GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN / SEPTEMBER 2018 - MARCH 2020
My time at Penn State as a student was better than I could have ever imagined - the school, its community, and the spirit within State College is a combination found nowhere else in America. I was able to work as a graphic design intern for over two years with the football team, and cut my teeth on a volume of projects the like of which I had never seen before. And honestly, I haven't seen since.
The Nittany Lions are a recruiting monster, and that monster manifested itself in the creative services department. Throughout this experience, I improved leaps and bounds in one key area: my mindfulness. When there are hundreds of assets to be made, all of high quality and many bespoke, every designer needs to pay special attention to their process. Organization, attention to detail, speed, and creative flexibility are paramount. Learning how to thrive in such an inspiring environment gave me incredibly valuable skills that are still key elements of my workflow.
Special thanks to Caleb Tyler, the football Lead Designer at the time. I wouldn't be the designer I am today without his endless advice and help.
