Over a decade ago, I ran across an Avenged Sevenfold music video. I didn't listen to rock and metal prior to that day, but that was my introduction to many following years of discovering great music. There's something about this band - their attention to great theatrical imagery, sense of melody, variety of sound, and talent as musicians - that drew me to them originally and has never left.
In 2020, I decided to create A7X artwork in a way that hadn't been done before. In honor of the discovering the band from a music video, I chose my favorite few, and created a series of pieces based purely on their visuals, tone, and feel.
The goals were intentionally straightforward and simple:
- Represent an entire video with just a few elements and simplistic, vibrant, powerful imagery.
- Use consistent typography style in song title headings to tie series together as one.
It resulted in the personal work I'm most proud of.
